Quincy University has announced that, during the first seven months of the current fiscal year, QU has already surpassed the largest fundraising year in university history by 31%.  A total of $13.7M has been raised at QU between June 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, topping the $10.4M raised during the entire 2021-2022 academic year.

“Today marks a significant moment in Quincy University’s history,” said Brian McGee, Ph.D., president.  “Thanks to the unprecedented generosity of our donors, and with several months left in the academic year, we already have achieved a record-breaking milestone that underscores our continuing progress and momentum at QU.”

Donations totaling $8.3M were made to the university in November and December 2024.  Several anonymous donors have made multi-million dollar gifts to QU, including the largest individual gifts in the history of the university.

“This achievement is more than just a number—it is a testament to the trust and confidence our alumni, friends, and partners place in us,” said Ralph Oakley, chair of the board of trustees. “Together, we are building a brighter future for our students and faculty, the Quincy community and the entire tri-state region.  We are proud to be a college on the move, and this milestone inspires us to aim even higher as we chart the next chapter of our journey.”

This announcement continues a recent trend of robust and growing donor support for Quincy University, with alumni, parents, QU employees, and community leaders all contributing to the university’s fundraising success. The past six years have been six of the seven largest fundraising years in QU history. These six years have included the first two years at QU with fundraising totals exceeding $10M.

“At a time when so many students and families are facing tough financial situations, we are committed to continue seeking financial support in order to make a quality QU education a reality for them,” said Oakley. “We are dedicated to ensuring QU meets the needs of our students and families for years to come.”

With the support provided by its donors, Quincy University continues to excel and respond to the needs of today’s students and workforce.  The university recently began degree programs in electrical and mechanical engineering and, in late 2024, announced plans to launch new clinical doctoral programs in the health sciences.

“Our new degree programs and continued work on our Success by Design program, where each student has a personalized success plan, demonstrate our commitment to meeting the needs of our students and community,” said McGee.  “We are proud of all that is being accomplished at this wonderful Catholic and Franciscan university.”
